Job Description for Director of Missions - Abilene-Callahan Baptist Association
The Abilene-Callahan Baptist Association (ACBA) exists to serve and strengthen the churches of the Big Country area. The Director of Missions reports to the Executive Committee of the ACBA.
Qualifications
- Meets the biblical qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
- Servant leader with Christ-like character
- Must have a passion for reaching the lost through church planting, church revitalization, and missions
- Proven ability to lead collaboratively, think strategically, and navigate complexity
- Theological training and 10+ years of ministerial experience
- Must have a vision to be a pastor of pastors and an able counselor
- Ability to work on multiple tasks, be flexible, and be a self-starter
- Committed to life-long learning
- Understanding of and affirmation of Baptist principles, polity, and doctrine (Baptist Faith and Message 1963 or 2000)
- Desire and ability to work with churches aligned with both the BGCT and the SBTC
- Maintain regular office hours
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted encourager, coach, and connector for pastors and church leaders
- Plan regular events designed to strengthen, encourage, and resource the ministry leaders of the ACBA
- Help churches cooperate together for the spread of the gospel, the planting and revitalization of churches, and the relief of the poor in our area
- Provide consultation in areas such as leadership development, conflict navigation, revitalization, and transition
- Promote pastoral health, unity, and prayer across the association
- Serve as ex officio member of ACBA committees, teams, and ministries
- Help fill pulpits as needs arise (includes cultivating a list of vetted preachers)
- Regular communication with pastors and staff members on the happenings of the association
- Be available to assist as churches transition
- Help churches discern and respond faithfully to cultural, demographic, and ministry challenges
- Assists in developing the annual budget
- Oversee and supervise associational staff and key volunteers
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Board of the ACBA
